After a year that included headlining their own traveling festival all over Ireland, playing a series of sold-out holiday concerts at various venues in their hometown, slipping in a quick SRO engagement at the Mercury Lounge in New York City and releasing their first live album, The Coronas this week have rolled out a new single called “Haunted” as a prelude to their first album in three years. The single is now available via digital outlets worldwide through the band’s SoFarSoGood Records imprint distributed by Blix Street Records.

The forthcoming new album, the band’s sixth, was recorded during breaks in last year’s hectic schedule, largely at London’s prestigious Eastcote studios. George Murphy, acclaimed engineer and producer (Ellie Goulding, The Specials, Mumford & Sons), who engineered The Coronas’ previous two albums, undertook the main production duties along with Rob Kirwan (Hozier, PJ Harvey) and Cormac Butler (Academic, All Tvvins). It is slated for release on May 29.
Following the year-end release of the LIVE AT THE OLYMPIA album, which captures the exuberance and excitement of The Coronas live in concert as well as the fervor of their devoted audiences, the band is now embarking on 2020 as a three-piece band following the amicable departure of lead guitarist Dave McPhillips. They are set to ramp up their busy schedule right up to the album release in May. “Yeah, it’s been a crazy few months!” laughs the band’s frontman Danny O’Reilly, ‘but it’s a new chapter for us. We’re so proud of this new album, and we can’t wait to share it.”
The Coronas previously rolled out the track “Find The Water” from the new album, complemented by a music video that provided a stark and intriguing journey through the iconic Southern California desert. A music video for “Haunted” is currently in the works.
The band will once again tour extensively both in Ireland and internationally in support of the upcoming album. In addition to already-announced festival dates in Ireland, The Coronas will return to North America for three weeks of shows beginning April 11 at The Beat Kitchen in Chicago.
