Daniel Rodriguez of Elephant Revival Releases Debut EP

Singer-songwriter Daniel Rodriguez releases of his debut collection of music as a solo artist on a five-song EP titled, Your Heart The Stars The Milky Way. Rodriguez speaks of these new songs being his emotional response to the end of a 14-year relationship with a bandmate in Elephant Revival, a transcendental folk band who 5280 Magazine describes as “a pioneer and mainstay of the Colorado music scene” and who has since announced its hiatus. Of Rodriguez’s new music, 5280 Magazine says “the songs are built on the poetry and warm croon [he] has a reputation for, but they also contain a vulnerability that lends credence to the notion that pain can fuel art.” Your Heart The Stars The Milky Way is available to stream on major services here. Daniel Rodriguez is headed back on tour in March with Steve Poltz. Tour dates below.

With over a decade under his belt with Elephant Revival, Rodriguez is well-versed in the Americana tour circuit. After their third headlining Red Rocks show in May 2018, Elephant Revival had released six albums and performed countless shows and festivals across the nation as well as overseas.

Needing to fill the musical void that might have become following Elephant Revival’s hiatus announcement and Rodriguez’s breakup, he immediately headed out on tour as a solo artist. He’s been chosen as main support for bands such as Fruition, Mandolin Orange, Josh Ritter, John Craigie, and Birds of Chicago, and he has also performed at numerous festivals including Northwest String Summit, Jam Cruise, WinterWonderGrass, and ARISE Music Festival.

As a solo musician, Daniel Rodriguez turns to his acoustic guitar for memorable, melodic hooks to accompany his poetic and contemplative folk songs. Boulder Weekly refers to Rodriguez’s voice as “a timeless folk voice, deep and hearty, weathered but comforting.”

Your Heart The Stars The Milky Way was recorded at Mountain Star Studio in Blackhawk, Colorado and features Frution’s rhythm section, Tyler Thompson on drums and Jeff Leonard on bass; Lewi Longmire on electric guitar and organ; and former Elephant Revival bandmate, Darren Garvey, as producer and jack-of-all-trades. Special guests include Jay Cobb Anderson of Fruition on vocals and slide guitar on “Back Roads”, Thomas LaFond of Banshee Tree on vocals on “Back Roads”, and Eric Deutsch of Leftover Salmon on organ on “Steal The Night Away”.
