Today, Joe Sumner releases a brand new track, “Looking For Me, Looking For You.” The ebullient folk/rock stomper comes complete with an exciting lyric video bounding off of the single artwork, full of eyes and purple. Curious? Watch HERE.
2022 has been nothing short of a whirlwind for Sumner. After having taken a moment to recalibrate in 2019, putting his first solo album in the can, he hunkered down like the rest of us in 2020, spending time with family, working on new material, and getting active around the crucial general election with a track called, “Hope,” that so underscored the tenor of the moment that it was co-opted by the Biden/Harris campaign for ads.
Concurrently, a version of the “Hope” video featured an eclectic who’s who of music makers, including Ben Folds, Richard Marx, Fantastic Negrito, Juliana Hatfield and Joe’s dad, Sting, among others. The video enjoyed its premiere with Rolling Stone and was tagged on MSNBC’s Morning Joe just days before the election.
Come 2021 and folks were getting back to work. Things proved no different for Sumner who saw a veritable nonstop agenda with solo dates in NYC, LA and more stateside markets, as well as support shows with Sting as his touring began to pick up where it left off before the pandemic. Continuing into 2022, Sumner dropped a second single, “You You You,” heralded by American Songwriter and supported by further dates with Sting in the UK and EU that included major European festivals and a week long stint at London’s Palladium that wrapped with a packed out Joe solo play at Piano Smithfield last April.
The new single comes with still more activity as Sumner wraps up east coast tour dates and sets off for yet another EU jaunt. In 2023, Joe visits South Africa, Japan, and Australia. Watch this space for more info.
