Maui-born singer and Willie Nelson protégé Lily Meola returns with a fresh, sassy alt-country track titled "Cowboy." The candid song features pop sensibilities layered over a groovy baseline and driving percussion. Listen to the track HERE.
“‘Cowboy’ came to life simply because I wanted to write a song about cowboys. Through its melody, I aimed to capture the spirit of the frontier and the romance of riding into the unknown. It’s the story of a lover who’s just better off alone,” explains Lily.
Since signing with Nettwerk, Lily has released a series of new tracks, including the breakup anthem "Without You" and "Over The Moon," a vulnerable exploration of battling depression. Fans can stay tuned for more details on her forthcoming release by following Lily on her social media channels.
Lily has been on the road over the past few months, performing at Willie Nelson’s historic 90th birthday concert event, where she dueted with Nelson on their song "Will You Remember Mine." She also wrapped up a series of tour dates with Lukas Nelson, playing to packed crowds this past March.
Lily's hit song "Daydream," which has generated over 70 million streams and appeared on the Viral Top 50 charts on streaming platforms in over 27 countries, earned widespread acclaim for its inspirational message and captivating vocals. Released in 2021 following the loss of her mother to cancer, the track urges listeners, “Darling don’t quit your daydream, it’s your life that you’re making. It ain’t big enough if it doesn’t scare the hell out of you.”
Influenced by classic singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell, Carole King, and Cat Stevens, Lily also draws inspiration from contemporary artists such as Adele, Amy Winehouse, and J. Cole. Homeschooled at the house of legendary producer Bob Rock, Lily contributed background vocals to his projects alongside his daughters.
At an early age, Lily's timeless, soaring vocals caught the attention of songwriting and performing icons like Willie Nelson, Steven Tyler, and Kris Kristofferson, with whom she has performed and collaborated. Over the past five years, she has honed her craft as a songwriter, working with artists like Andra Day, Corey Harper, Riley Roth, and hit songwriters such as Tyler Johnson, Hillary Lindsey, Busbee, Caitlyn Smith, Drew Pearson, Liz Rose, Martin Terefe, Barry Dean, Lori McKenna, Natalie Hemby, Luke Laird, Evan Bogart, Ross Golan, Dave Bassett, Andrew Wells, Mitch Allan, Sasha Skarbek, and Eg White.
