On the heels of their spirited reimagination of the Grateful Dead classic “Attics of My Life,” Bay Area collective Moonalice shares the tender acoustic version. Recorded completely live and led by the T-Sisters vocal trio of Erika, Chloe, and Rachel Tietjen, Moonalice pays homage to the great American songwriter Robert Hunter with arresting three-part harmonies. The song has become a staple in the band’s live set as the T’s give a gorgeous rendition of the Dead classic.
Speaking on the new recording, Rachel Teitjen explains, “The beautiful lyrics and melody of Attics of My Life drew us to this song and was the first Grateful Dead song the T Sisters recorded back in 2015. We had arranged it a capella, but the song soared to new heights when we brought our vocal arrangement to the band and combined our sister harmony with the band’s exceptional musicianship. This latest recording from Moonalice is a live take, and we were all deeply feeling the music. We hope you enjoy it!”
“Attics” follows Moonalice’s Live at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass live album release, highlighting their standout performance at the famed San Francisco festival where they debuted new single “Old & Proud.” The band has been busy working on a string of new music with Nashville songwriter and producer Dylan Altman that will feature on two upcoming companion EPs, one electric and one acoustic.

For Bay-area psychedelic soul collective Moonalice, making music is more than just a career; it’s in their blood. It’s family. The 10-piece group includes the father-son duo Lester and Dylan Chambers, the T-Sisters vocal trio of Erika, Chloe, and Rachel Tietjen, and a band of musicians that have performed together for long enough to call each other brothers: Barry Sless, Pete Sears, John Molo, Jason Crosby, and Roger McNamee.
On back-to-back EPs, Full Moonalice Vol. 1 & 2 (2022), and an acoustic album, Light Side of the Moonalice (2023), the band pays homage to their roots with stirring renditions of soulful classics (“Time Has Come Today,” “People Get Ready”) alongside brand-new original works (“Love Me Today,” “Woo Woo”) - winning the acclaim of Rolling Stone, Relix, American Songwriter, Ultimate Classic Rock, Goldmine Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle, and more.
