Today, UK-based artist Paris Paloma unveils her highly anticipated debut album Cacophony, a striking collection of 15 tracks that delve into themes of love, grief, death, and power. The album features the viral, Billboard-charting single “labour,” which resonated deeply with women around the globe, sparking tens of thousands of TikToks in response and amassing over 160 million streams on Spotify.
Cacophony is a body of work that ranges from the tender and heartbreaking to the sublimely aggressive and vengeful, drawing from influences of dark pop, folk, and indie music. Paris Paloma's evocative sound and rousing lyrics create an album that feels primal, powerful, and innately feminine.
The album release is accompanied by the premiere of the music video for “last woman on earth,” a haunting track that brings attention to the global epidemic of violence against women. Paris explains, “‘last woman on earth’ speaks to the constant terror of being a woman, wishing for my body to be delivered to nature and to move through the world safely in life and rest peacefully in death. The song pleads to escape the sexual violence and exploitation of women’s bodies within the patriarchy and implores male listeners to feel the same urgency regarding women’s safety.”
Alongside Cacophony, Paris Paloma encourages fans to join her in a #dayofcacophony celebration with activities and events across the world, including a special in-store appearance at Morocco Bound Bookshop in London and signings at St John’s Church with Banquet Records, Rough Trade Bristol, and Rough Trade Liverpool.
