In keeping with the tradition of playing a special set on the opening night of its Solid Sound Festival, this year Wilco will perform one of its studio albums in its entirety, with songs performed in their original track-listed order. The album performed will be determined by fans, who can vote for their favorite, beginning today at solidsoundfestival.com.
Saturday’s lineup features another full-length headlining performance by Wilco, plus sets by Television, Kurt Vile and the Violators, Peter Wolf & The Midnight Travelers, Kevin Morby, Robert Glasper Experiment, The Shaggs, Deep Sea Diver, Big Thief, Jeff Parker Trio, Alloy Orchestra, Joan Shelley and Kacy & Clayton plus comedy by John Hodgman, Michael Ian Black, Eugene Mirman, Phoebe Robinson and Nick Offerman. Jean Grae’s The Show Show with DJ Quelle Chris and Bread and Puppet also perform.
All Wilco-member side projects will perform on Sunday with sets from Tweedy & Friends, The Nels Cline Four (featuring Julian Lage), On Fillmore, Quindar and The Autumn Defense. Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids, Andy Shauf, Daniel Bachman, Max Hatt/Edda Glass also perform on Sunday as does children’s performers Gustafer Yellowgold and Story Pirates. The day also features a live interview and audience Q&A with food writer/activist Mark Bittman.

In related news, dBpm Records will release Together At Last a new solo acoustic collection by Jeff Tweedy on June 23. Recorded at Tweedy’s Chicago studio The Loft, the album features intimate renditions of 11 Tweedy songs previously released by Wilco and by Tweedy’s occasional side projects Loose Fur and Golden Smog. It is the first in a proposed series of releases –Loft Acoustic Sessions– where Tweedy revisits his vast catalog of work, which spans three decades and more than 20 albums.
