Moments ago, the Trump administration -- led by Interior Secretary Zinke -- announced that it is gutting a critical protection for public health and the environment.
The Bureau of Land Management’s methane waste rule stopped oil and gas companies from pointlessly venting and flaring methane on our public lands. Now, Zinke’s rollback of this rule will mean more air pollution, public health threats, and climate pollution.
The only reason for Zinke to roll back this rule is to help his friends in the fossil fuel industry. We need your help to speak out against this destructive agenda!

Methane is one of the biggest drivers of climate change. What’s more, it’s linked to severe public health impacts -- including increasing the risk of asthma and cancer.
Zinke's own agency found that rolling back the BLM methane rule will cost Americans more than $1 billion in wasted natural gas and pollution. This rollback will mean less funding for our schools and communities, more wasted energy, and more air pollution threatening the health of our families. But Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke has chosen to steamroll our health and environment by gutting the rule.
Even worse, this rollback comes days after the administration took aim at the Environmental Protection Agency’s methane rules. In short, this is an all-out assault on protections from this destructive greenhouse gas.
Take action now: Stop Trump from gutting our protections from greenhouse gases!
Time is running out to prevent climate chaos. We need stronger action to avoid the worst, not a rollback of our existing rules.
We must stand together and tell Secretary Zinke that this attack on common sense will only make the problem of methane waste and air pollution worse.
