Hot Buttered Rum, one of the most honest-to-goodness fun bluegrass bands to come out of the San Francisco Bay Area celebrated the release of their latest project with a hint of class and a formal Black and Red Ball at The Fillmore on Friday, May 13.

Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann, with John Mayer and featuring Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti, better known collectively as Dead & Company, opened their highly anticipated Summer 2016 tour by announcing a free show at The Fillmore in San Francisco on Monday, May 23.

On Thursday, March 4^th, electronica-jam band Papadosio brought their blend of noise, funk and layers of cresting bleeps and bloops to the famed Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, CA.

Approaching the middle of a 34-date winter tour in support of the release of their sixth full-length studio album, Ladies & Gentleman, The Infamous Stringdusters are having a ball.

Hot Buttered Rum are happy to announce that, in addition to dates already confirmed throughout the winter and spring, (see details below) they will be headlining their hometown’s most legendary venue, The Fillmore on Friday, May 13^th. The show, dubbed The Black & Red Ball, goes on sale Friday Feb 5th with Bay Area comrades, Front Country and Quiles & Cloud as openers.

Few genres of music have stood the test of time unblemished such as funk. Though there have been progressions, evolution, and certainly fusion, the fundamentals are all in order. Grandfathers George Clinton, James Brown, and The Meters created a percussively punchy style of playing that was a liberating new form of music distinct in character and approach. Many bands will be described as funky, which is synonymous to loose, rhythm driven and interactive with an audience.

Last Friday at The Fillmore in San Francisco, I felt right at home. As a Colorado native who moved to the Bay Area just three months ago it’s been an incredible transition and vast discovery process with the amount of incredible local and national musical talent that plays here constantly. Last Friday was humbling on multiple levels. It was the debut Fillmore performance of my favorite improvisational funk band The Motet.
