Jerry’s Middle Finger and special guest Sunshine Becker (Furthur) tore up their first live audience performance in 235 days to a sold-out drive-in crowd of nearly 1,000 hungry fans amongst 200+ socially-distanced cars at the Solano County Fairgrounds on Saturday night.

This week’s episode of Mighty SONG Writers comes from AAA radio chart-topping indie-folk artist Matt Quinn of Mt. Joy. In his video, Quinn covers the Grateful Dead’s “Dire Wolf,” explaining that that song’s storytelling drove him to become a songwriter, and plays one of his own songs that was inspired by Jerry Garcia. Quinn also thanks a formative English teacher, passes on songwriting advice that’s helped him, and explains why John Prine should be the second musician to win the Nobel Prize.

Today, Devendra Banhart released an Amazon Original cover of The Dead’s "Franklin’s Tower," available to stream and purchase only on Amazon Music. Banhart’s cover is released in honor of the 45th anniversary of Grateful Dead’s Blues for Allah. The song was produced and mixed by Noah Georgeson (Joanna Newsom, Marlon Williams) and recorded with his current touring band consisting of Nicole Lawrence (guitar), Jeremy Harris (synths), Gregory Rogove (drums and percussion).
