Grateful Dead

In the cozy confines of the Crazy Horse Saloon in Nevada City, CA, on April 29, Shakey Zimmerman turned lots of heads with their powerful, compelling takes on venerable Bob Dylan and Neil Young material. Opening the show was the acoustic duo of Shakey’s Pat Nevins along with music newcomer Jennifer Mydland, daughter of Brent Mydland, The Grateful Dead’s longest-tenured keyboardist – and vocalist.

There's a common thread here, we promise! Deadheads across the good ol' U.S. of A. will be gathering next week to celebrate Cornell. Headed to JazzFest?

Thanks to the Boston Red Sox and all of you who came out to Rex and cheer the team at  The Grateful Dead Night at Fenway Park! Thanks also to the Red Sox for a nice additional donation!

I was at this show, and it still remains the favorite of the 70 shows I saw between 1973 -1995. Was only the second night of the tour, general admission, on a rainy cool day. Civic Center was way smaller than most of the other Northeastern 'hockey rink' venues, so it always felt more intimate and with better sound. I attended the show with at least 10 of my friends, we grabbed a bunch of seats just off the floor, not too far back on the side.

The four-hour Grateful Dead documentary “Long Strange Trip,” will be part of this year's Film on the Rocks. You can catch the movie on May 25th.  General admission tickets are $15 and go on sale April 21 via denverfilm.org.

Come one, come all! We're celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Grateful Dead Movie this Thursday night. Round up your favorite Grateful guys and gals and mosey on over to your local theater at 7pm. We'll be kicking things off with an exclusive look at footage from the upcoming Grateful Dead documentary, Long Strange Trip, and rounding out the pre-show sneak peeks with a never-before-seen mini-documentary about the band's legendary May 8, 1977 show at Cornell University.

Won't you please come and join us?
