It was a good day. Redondo Beach, California’s, inaugural BeachLife Festival got off to a splendid start on Friday, May 3, with Bob Weir, Chris Robinson, Slightly Stoopid, and Steel Pulse leading the way, and the undercard featuring lots of roots-reggae rock, all of which colorfully defined the SoCal beach vibe. Cool breezes from the adjacent Santa Monica Bay and the Pacific Ocean kept temperatures in the 60s while the early May SoCal sun beamed down on several thousand rosy-faced attendees.

Several Bay Area musicians who were already friends on and off the stage appeared together at The Fillmore in San Francisco on June 9 to spotlight Blue Rose Music’s stable of artists, and of more importance to raise money and awareness for the Blue Rose Foundation, which commits itself to preschool scholarships for impoverished children.

Academy Award-nominated “king of indie animation” Bill Plympton takes viewers on a Technicolor ride to outer space, an underwater world filled with robots, and a concert performed by banjo-slinging aliens in the new video for roots-rocker Jackie Greene’s “Modern Lives."

Set to absurdist lyrics comparing Times Square to a graveyard and a rollicking, fiddle-heavy groove, the seemingly innocuous psychedelic visuals take on a darkly sardonic meaning and reflect the dystopia Greene sees when he looks at “this modern life.”

Today, the Blue Rose Foundation announces a special benefit show on June 10 at the Mystic Theatre in Petaluma, CA. Presenting Americana rocker Jackie Greene & Friends for this one night only event. All proceeds go towards a preschool scholarship fund and resource program for disadvantaged families provided by the Blue Rose Foundation.

Jackie Greene has spent the last year touring rigorously to support the release of Back To Birth, his first studio album in five years.

Anders Osborne's music is redolent of the blues bathed in West Coast sunshine and brotherly compassion, a torchbearer for rock ‘n’ roll with blood in it’s veins and a heart in it’s hands. 40 years to the day of The Last Waltz, happening in the same city - just across town, Jackie Greene brings the magic of musical friendship to life.  Greene welcomes a handful of special guests to the stage with his band at The Warfield in San Francisco on Saturday, November 26.
