In light of the upcoming Fourth of July I would like to invite all readers to comment with your ideas of what constitutes American Music.  We could get a very nice discussion going regarding bands, styles, influences, allusions, imagery, intent, and anything else that might come up about what American Music is, was, means and does.

The 10,000 Lakes Festival is proud to announce the complete list of performers for its third annual event, scheduled for July 21-24 at the scenic Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. In addition to two nights of festival headliners Widespread Panic and former Phish guitarist/front man Trey Anastasio, the event features over two dozen other artists performing in a wide range of musical styles.

A couple of weeks ago Mike asked me to go to the Phix show at the Fox and write a review; I'm not going to write a review of a cover band, I told him. You'll wind up with ridiculous lines like "Paul was really channeling Trey on that cover of Moma Dance" or "their version of Punch You in the Eye almost made me feel like it really was Phish." Over the last several days he kept bugging me in his inimitable Yahoo!

Grateful Web has been thrilled to host their auctions for the past four years.

I just have to agree with the other commentaries on the Trey Anastasio concert at Alpine Valley! Trey and the band were outstanding! I also read that Trey commented that Alpine Valley is "really the best place to play in the world." Whether Trey said that or not - it is true!

I hope everyone will make it out to East Troy sometime - Alpine Valley is a great place for a concert - especially when it is Trey Anastasio..

Sad but true.....Phish is on hiatus after touring for 15 years and as of now they have no plan to unite anytime soon. Fortunately, some of the Phishies are still making music - and plenty of it. Well, I did not go to any of Trey Anastasio's summer tour.  I  saw him during his fall tour.  Needless to say I was not impressed.  I had a chance to catch him in Charlotte, NC this summer, but decided to catch Panic in Myrtle Beach, SC instead.  The songs that they played during the fall tour were ok at best.  Trey needs to reunite with Phish.  The way Phish used to play off of each other was what made Phish so talented.  He is planning to stop doing a lot of covers during his shows.  I would suggest he keep doing a few covers because if he comp

As we wind down the Phish career, it is done with both great joy and great sadness. The joy comes from remembering the incredibly good times we've experienced, the successes we've enjoyed, and knowing that even in our closing we are honoring the band. The sadness is obviously driven by the fact that something I love will not be a part of my life anymore. To me, we have been the greatest band in the world and have had the greatest fans ever.
