This August 2011 was the sixteenth anniversary of the passing of Jerry Garcia. Most heads know the time between his birthday (August 1st) and his death day (August 9th) as “The Days Between”.

Is there a festival with a cooler name than Gathering of the Vibes? Immediately all festivals with the word festival or fest are eliminated from the name competition- I hope I don’t have to tell you why. Bonnaroo? Pretty cool, but the words not even in the lexicon of those pretentious wordies who use the word lexicon often. No, all festivals should aspire to be a gathering.

Ohio’s up-and-coming jamband powerhouse, The Werks are thrilled to announce their second annual Werk Out Festival, held Thursday through Sunday  September 8–11 at Zane Shawnee Caverns in Bellefontaine.

The beauty of the Grateful Dead legacy extends far past the demise of the original line-up that sadly ended with the death of Jerry Garcia in 1995. The Grateful Dead created a dedicated community, or rather a counterculture, based on music and family values that have since refused to give up and let go.

The Four Winds Tour continues on Wednesday as we kick off the West coast leg of the tour in Bellingham, WA at the Mt. Baker Theater then cruise down from the northwest corner to Seattle, Portland and Eugene, Oregon. From there it's on into California for shows in Arcata and Santa Cruz before dropping into San Francisco for 3 nights at the Great American Music Hall.

Dark Star Orchestra will be recreating the Legendary 'Live at the Cow Palace' show from 12/31/76 plus DSO will kick off the evening with a rare acoustic set. We are looking forward to wrapping up an incredible year of touring and music ...Come Join us for the Celebration!

Amid the recent and exciting “Shakedowns” amongst the currently touring Grateful Dead threaded projects, I had the good fortune of swapping some very interesting and eloquent emails with my friend Jeff Mattson.

After years at the helm of The Zen Tricksters, a stint with Phil Lesh and Friends, a terrific and on-going run with Donna Jean Godchaux and her various recent incarnations, Mattson now steps into John Kadlicek’s shoes with the freight train that is the Dark Star Orchestra.
