This is Dylan Muhlberg of Grateful Web here with Organ maestro, vocalist, and bandleader Melvin Seals. Since 1981 Seals sat behind organ, piano, and synthesizer for Jerry Garcia Band. His gospel, soul and blues influences were pivotal to the evolution of Garcia Band’s sound.  All the more remarkable, since the untimely passing of Garcia in 1995, Seals assembled a talented lineup of musicians to continue Jerry Garcia Band’s music.

Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration featuring Warren Haynes announces two dates so far for this summer.  Boston Pops Orchestra and conductor Keith Lockhart with join Warren Haynes for two special shows: July 1st, 2016 - Lennox, MA at Tanglewood Music Center & August 1st, 2016 - Morrison, CO @ Red Rocks Amphitheater.

2015 was a pivotal year for the Grateful Dead. Various important concert events marked the band’s 50-year landmark. Even more remarkable was the overwhelming fan and academic support by way of undeniably canonical releases. The finest tribute to the Dead’s late guitarist and beloved bandleader Jerry Garcia arrived a few weeks ago from one of the band’s most esteemed insiders.

On Wednesday, December 2nd The Fillmore in San Francisco will host two very special guests in conversation to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead.  Publicist, historian, and author of A Long Strange Trip, Dennis McNally will be joined by Trixie Garcia. The two will discuss McNally’s newest compilation Jerry on Jerry, a previously unpublished archive of interviews between McNally with Grateful Dead guitarist and cultural icon Jerry Garcia.

I am joined by veteran photographer, author, and anthropologist Jay Blakesberg, His presence has been pivotal in American rock music scene since 1980s, particularly rooted in the Grateful Dead community. His iconic photography is regularly featured through publications like Relix, Rolling Stone, and Guitar Player. He is granted a rare trust and inclusivity from legendary rock musicians. His tenth photographic volume of rock anthropology is his finest to date.

As we celebrate Jerry Garcia's 73rd birthday and mark the 20th anniversary of his passing this August, events from coast to coast offer a chance to honor his legacy, share good times with friends, and support Rex too!

On this day - July 21st -  in 2005, The San Francisco Recreation and Parks Commission passed the resolution giving the Excelsior District's McLaren Park amphitheater its proper name.  :) Let's celebrate this Thursday (see below) and at the 13th Annual Jerry Day on August 2nd!

As the years accumulate since the passing of American music icon Jerry Garcia, performance recordings long lost have continued to reemerge. The guitarist, singer and songwriter’s roots were deeper than his rock ‘n’ roll project Grateful Dead. He was known and respected in Palo Alto, California as a folk guru who played regularly with the best of the local scene.

Eugene, Oregon has welcomed, with open and hugging arms, their newest music venue and restaurant, Hi-Fi Music Hall, located in the smack dab middle of downtown. Many locals remember Hi-Fi as the old Rock n’ Rodeo bar, so there is no doubt this venue seeps with musical nostalgia.
