My Morning Jacket

Regions of Light and Sound of God, the first album straight from the effervescent mind of Jim James, will be released on February 5. As a true headphone heretic, this project adds another dimension to James’s already genre bending discography which includes: My Morning Jacket, Monsters of Folk, and Yim Yames. The nine track LP is a powerful portrayal of how it feels to fall into darkness. While creating this album Jim James was heavily influenced by the 1929 graphic novel God’s Man created by Lynd Ward.

Inspiration comes from the most abstract places, and that statement did not falter in the inspiration behind Jim James’ upcoming solo album, Regions of Light and Sound of God, out February 5 on ATO Records.  James drew inspiration from a vintage book entitled God’s Man, a wordless 1929 woodcut novel by Lynd Ward, for the song, “A New Life,” which just premiered on Rolli

We are happy to announce that musician/actor/activist Steve Earle has been added to the bill and that legendary musician, surfer and activist Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam along with music aficionados NHL All-Star Henrik Lundqvist of the NY Rangers and former NY Ranger fan favorite, restaurateur Sean Avery have signed on as underwriters for On the Beach-A Sandy Relief Concert.Vedder has had strong ties to the Jersey Shore for decades and Lundqvist and Avery, th

Greetings from Asbury Park...It's never been so important to say those words, because compared to the rest of the Jersey Shore, we are fine. The Stone Pony, Paramount Theatre and Asbury Park Convention Hall are open for business and the rest of our boardwalk and surrounding beaches are progressing into the New Year. But our neighbors, our families and our friends however are not as fortunate. For the past month we've been with them, shoveling, ripping out drywall and now know why they call a crawl space a crawl space.

"I wanted the album to sound like it came from a different place in time," says Jim James. "Perhaps sounding as if it were the past of the future, if that makes any sense—like a hazy dream that a fully-realized android or humanoid capable of thought might have when it reminisces about the good old days of just being a simple robot.""I take walks a lot," says James, "and as I walk, songs kind of build in my mind, and I start adding and subtracting things.

Jim James, lead singer/songwriter for popular band My Morning Jacket will be joined by the band's guitarist & multi-instrumentalist Carl Broemel in a visit to Keene, New Hampshire for a rare solo performance on behalf of the Obama campaign on Monday, October 1st, 2012.  The concert will take place at the Colonial Theater, with doors opening at 7:00pm.  Opening for Jim James and Carl Broemel will be Craig Finn of The Hold Steady.

My Morning Jacket will take the stage of the historic Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY for three consecutive nights in continuation of their Spontaneous Curation Series.  To keep with the spirit of the series, no songs will repeat for each of these performances.

My Morning Jacket is considered by many to be one of the premier live rock outfits in the country. Suffice to say, they did nothing but bolster that reputation over the course of six ridiculously entertaining hours Friday and Saturday night at the unparalleled Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado.
