Last year My Morning Jacket played a single night at Red Rocks Amphitheater, but as they are becoming more and more of a household name, one night wasn’t enough for this year. The Louisville, Kentucky boys came in strong for the opening night on Friday with a 29-song set. It’s been over a year since the release of their sixth album, Circuital, and as of lately they have shed the “Victory Dance”/Title track opener in favor of a more random choice of opening songs.
On Saturday August 4th, Rocktin Grove managed to epitomize a postmodern band without the slightest hint of pretention. Despite the drama and fast paced touring this Vermont based Indie Rock band faced last year, they are scheduled to release their second EP entitled, Look What I've Become, on September 4. Chamberlin began playing their first ever packed house shows opening for Grace Potter and the Nocturnals last year and then moved on to release their debut album.

Wholesome, hearty, and country-like: Gabriel Kelley belts out the vocals on his new album, It Don’t Come Easy. Genre definition is so overrated. Whether it be film, music, or art, it seems like everything has mated nowadays, making for an integrated fusion of a once duality or whatever. Really it just sounds pretentious. It seems like many artists in the music industry are marginalized into “pitching” their sound or concept to record labels, audiences, or promoters. I can only imagine the headache of trying to define your band’s “sound”.
