Improvisational rock powerhouse Red Matter returns with their latest studio single, "Sunrise on the Freeway," a charismatic ode to the thrill and nostalgia of the sun-soaked days of summertime. The Connecticut-based outfit’s anthemic new release is a compelling declaration of the band’s distinctive sound and boundless potential. Recorded at Horizon Studios in West Haven, CT by Vic Steffens (Sinkane, The Breakfast), the tune delivers the band's signature blend of soaring guitars, commanding instrumentation, and soulful vocals. The kinetic jam vehicle also features tasteful embellishment and a virtuosic solo from acclaimed saxophonist Bill Holloman, known for his work with Chic.
Written by guitarist Geoff Schneider and brought to life by the collective genius of the band, the song is an anthem to the great outdoors, celebrating the freedom and exhilaration of a sun-drenched experience. "The song is about the freedom, energy, and sense of spirit experienced at the moment of maximum exertion on a wide open, cloudless day," explains Schneider. Vocalist Milo Barer shares, “It’s an inspiration to get outside and enjoy what’s around you.”
Red Matter has been a name to watch since they emerged from Southern Connecticut's vibrant music scene in 2013. Known for their electric performances and a deep connection to the roots of American rock and jam traditions, the band has steadily risen to acclaim - most notably with their 2023 album "Northbound Train" and its Relix Magazine radio chart-topping single "Light of the Moon."
Fans old and new can catch the unforgettable energy of Red Matter live as they hit the road for their 2024 tour, with dates spanning through the northeast May through September.
