RED MATTER UNVEILS NEW EMOTIONAL EPIC, "RAIN"

Connecticut-based roots/Americana band Red Matter returns with a powerful new studio single, "Rain," set to release on Friday, July 12th. This seven-minute epic stands as a testament to the power of emotion and the human experience, exploring the necessity of both sunny and rainy days in shaping our lives.

"Rain" is a moving ballad that showcases the compelling vocals of Milo Barer and the dynamic guitar work of Geoff Schneider. The song slinks forward with a memorable motif, building to an epic conclusion highlighted by a soaring guitar solo. Lyrically, "Rain" delves into the essence of emotions, reminding listeners that the beauty of sunny days is only truly appreciated after experiencing the rain.

Recorded at Horizon Studios in West Haven, CT, by Vic Steffens (Sinkane, The Breakfast), "Rain" is a masterclass in Red Matter's signature blend of soulful vocals, commanding instrumentation, and heartfelt lyrics. This morning, the track was selected for inclusion on Apple Music’s prestigious “New In Rock” playlist alongside new music from acclaimed contemporaries like Phish, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and Deer Tick .

"I see Rain as one of the ultimate metaphors for life in general. It embodies all the feelings and emotions that life brings. It can be incredibly relaxing and nourishing as it's essential for life, but at the same time can be often looked at negatively, gray, cloudy and dark. The concept of washing away troubles, or bringing nourishment in the same lyrics is really one of the most ultimate expressions in this song,” explains Schneider. “Life is about relationships and I tried to capture the essence of all that goes into relationships in one song. The song wrote itself, I was just working on the chords and the chorus came on naturally, and the words literally fit the chorus when I first sang it. It's the words that came out of my mouth. There was no real thought about it, and then I built the song around it.”

Since emerging from Southern Connecticut's vibrant music scene in 2013, Red Matter has garnered acclaim for their electric performances and a deep connection to the roots of American rock and jam traditions. Their 2023 album Northbound Train and its Relix Magazine radio chart-topping single "Light of the Moon" significantly expanded the band’s notoriety, and they now look ahead to a busy summer season.
