Tune In, Turn Out: Dead Heads to Rally For Kamala Harris
Announcing Dead Heads for Kamala: Get on the Bus with Us!, a virtual rally and fundraiser supporting Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign to become the 47th President of the United States. This two-hour event, scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, August 13th, will showcase Harris’ leadership and vision while encouraging all attendees to embrace unity under the guiding question, “Are you kind?”
Inspired by the vibrant, community-first spirit that exemplifies a Grateful Dead show, Dead Heads for Kamala invites attendees to unite, engage, and mobilize. The evening will feature a diverse group of notable Grateful Dead enthusiasts delivering remarks on critical political issues at stake in the 2024 election. True to the essence of any Dead Head gathering, music will play a central role, with speeches complemented by performances from notable bands and artists.
Attendees can look forward to engaging discussions themed around iconic Grateful Dead songs, each shedding light on key issues of the 2024 election. "Help on the Way" will focus on the pressing need for healthcare reform, while "Fire on the Mountain" addresses urgent environmental concerns. "Promised Land" will examine humanity and immigration policies, and "Standing on the Moon" will delve into global relations. The inspiring "Women are Smarter" will highlight women's rights, emphasizing the leadership and contributions of women in society.
Further topics include "Throwing Stones," which will tackle violence prevention, and "Eyes of the World," emphasizing the importance of the arts in our culture. "Cumberland Blues" will explore the economy and advancements in technology, and "Let it Grow" will discuss education and preparing the next generation. Finally, "Ripple" will underscore the need for unity and inclusivity, inviting all to join in creating a more compassionate and connected world.
“I kicked off organizing this because our country is comprised of many people from all kinds of backgrounds and Kamala espouses honesty, integrity, and dedication. Standing up for the rights of others, and not afraid to tackle the tough issues” said organizing committee founder Steven Leventhal. “There are lots of issues and political races up and down the ballot that also deserve our attention.
