Sister Nancy, whose 1982 hit "Bam Bam" has become one of the most sampled and celebrated reggae anthems in history, lends her iconic voice and powerful message to this collaboration. Her enduring influence, recently captured in the documentary Bam Bam: The Sister Nancy Story, continues to inspire generations of listeners worldwide. On ‘Teach The Youths,’ Sister Nancy delivers a call to arms, emphasizing the role education plays in shaping a brighter, more just future for all.

Slated for release on September 20th, ‘Teach The Youths’ is the third single from Naya Rockers’ forthcoming album ‘Higher Education.’ The track’s vibrant fusion of reggae rhythms and profound lyrics encourages global audiences to invest in the future by nurturing the young generation. “Education is the key, you must understand,” Sister Nancy asserts, her voice a beacon of wisdom that resonates deeply with the track’s urgent message.

The single was recorded across three continents – at Floki Studios in Iceland, Majestic Fyah Studio in New Jersey, and Tuff Gong Studios in Jamaica – bringing together a global ensemble of talent. Produced by Naya Records’ founder Nathan Sabanayagam and co-produced by bassist Nate Edgar, the song’s rich musical landscape is enhanced by contributions from reggae legends Earl "Chinna" Smith and Andy Bassford on guitar, Cameron Greenlee on keys, and Alex Beram on Akete. This powerful lineup creates a textured soundscape that perfectly complements Sister Nancy’s commanding vocals.

“Working with Sister Nancy on this track has been a career highlight,” says Sabanayagam. “Her message is more relevant now than ever before.”

The track’s authentic reggae sound was finalized at Tuff Gong Studios, with Stephen Stewart and Michael “Boxy” Howell handling the final mix. The collaboration of these respected figures in the reggae world has produced a timeless piece that stands as a testament to the power of music in driving social change.

Ahead of its official release, ‘Teach The Youths’ was performed live at the Charlemont Reggae Festival with Sister Nancy and Naya Rockers, marking a milestone for Sabanayagam. “Performing the song live was a full-circle moment for me as a producer,” he reflects.

‘Teach The Youths’ will be available on all streaming platforms starting September 20th, 2024.
