Today, Baltimore-based funk band Pigeons Playing Ping Pong announced plans for a virtual Super Bowl pre-party. The two-set concert, hosted by Brooklyn Bowl, premieres on Saturday, February 6th at 8 PM ET streaming on The Relix Channel exclusively on Twitch. Having garnered national acclaim for putting the "fun in funk" with high-energy themed shows, PPPP is at it again with a new musical costume, "Halftime Hall of Fame," promising tributes to some of the Super Bowl's most iconic halftime performances of the past three decades.
”New year, fresh theme, elevated high energy psychedelic funk,” says frontman “Scrambled Greg” Ormont. “We’ve been practicing a ton and definitely have a few trick plays up our sleeve to make this Super Bowl stream extra special."
Proceeds from the event will benefit two separate organizations; Rex Foundation -- a national nonprofit established by the Grateful Dead to proactively provide extensive community support to creative endeavors in the arts, sciences, and education; and Conscious Alliance -- a nonprofit that connects a network of creatives to collect large-scale donations in order to combat hunger in historically underserved communities.
Fans can donate to the aforementioned organizations at pigeonslive.com. The ten highest donations received before 11:59 PM ET on Friday, February 5th will earn a Zoom meet and greet with the band following their performance.
