People are rejoicing here on Mulberry Mountain this year. After 3 years of poor weather during Harvest Music Festival, it's finally a perfect weekend. Sunny, cool and breezy...I guess climate change is working in our favor right now. Folks are rolling in and setting up camp, but the crowd seems smaller this year, but it's only the second day - and a Friday, to boot.
With winter weather only beginning to set in, fans can still keep their spirits bright with the announcement of the 9th annual Hoopla in the Hills Art & Music Festival Campout, held March 26-29 at Frontier Ranch Music Center – only 20 minutes outside of Columbus.
Five years in, The Festy Experience, has proven itself to be as enjoyable, accessible and certain to give attendees more than their money’s worth both musically and scenically as any festival on the East Coast. You do not have to load up a week’s worth of supplies and go all the way to Florida. You do not have to pray and dodge 18 wheelers buzzing by at 85 miles per hour nor endure hour’s long traffic jams on your way up and down hundreds of miles of interstate l- 95. The Festy is conveniently located about an hour so

Bear Creek Music & Art Festival has added headlining artist Chris Robinson’s Soulive Revue. I can hardly believe it’s almost October – it seems it was just a few weeks ago YMSB’s Harvest Music Festival 2013 was playing its final notes. This year, The Jayhawks are slated for an IOU performance they missed last year. Also on the lineup are festival namesakes Yonder Mountain String Band – they’re playing with Jerry Douglas this year in lieu of Jeff Austin leaving the band. Trampled by Turtles is playing, as well as Papa Mali, Elephant Revival, Shook Twins and many other great bands.
A year ago, Planet Bluegrass was in shambles. The North St. Vrain Creek, which carves a path along the venue’s northern and eastern borders, overflowed during a torrential downpour that lasted nearly a full week in mid-September. The 2013 Colorado Flood created a state of emergency in 14 counties and hit especially hard in Lyons. The town’s crown gem, which hosts the annual RockyGrass and Folks Festivals, was submerged under four feet of water.
I’m searching for phrases to describe Phases of the Moon Music & Art Festival. It began as a dark side of the moon, but that was just a phase. As an audience, our hackles were already up, howling at the moon before the weekend ever arrived. Through no fault of the Phases organizers, RatDog had to cancel their appearance. Bobby Weir’s lightening is lazy.

Riot Fest exploded with a bang, and the fast action, hard hitting, rock festival tore it up in the Mile High City. On the grounds of Sports Authority Stadium at Mile High, home of the Denver Broncos, the festival kicked off its first night with its best lineup of the weekend. Taking public transportation was the way to go because there were a lot of people to add to the regular Friday traffic in the city.
