With more than twenty years and 2800 shows under their belt, Dark Star Orchestra today announces their 2018 Fall Tour. This tour has them weaving through the heart of the Midwest during the peak of autumn heading from Minnesota to Ohio and many places in between.

Hosting the musical memory of one of the Grateful Dead’s most beloved, historic shows, Dark Star Orchestra has pledged to recreate the July 8, 1978 performance at Red Rocks Amphitheater at the iconic venue 40 years to the day of its original performance. The band announces today that original Grateful Dead member Donna Jean Godchaux will be making a guest appearance on stage with the band at the upcoming July 8 performance.

Dark Star Orchestra is holding their seventh annual Dark Star Jubilee festival this coming Memorial Day May 25-27 at the venue which is now known as Legend Valley, in Thornville, Ohio. Back in 1993, it was known as Buckeye Lake Music Center, and on June 11, the Grateful Dead rolled into town. Nearly 25 years to the date, and at the same location, Dark Star Orchestra will be recreating the original band’s historic set during one of the night at The Jubilee in a rare, advanced announcement for the band to confirm a show they’re playing.

Dark Star Orchestra Summer Tour leads down the Road to Red Rocks and beyond as the band celebrates the Golden State in San Diego, June 22, Ojai, June 23, and Carmel-By-The-Sea on June 24. A SEVA Foundation benefit in Petaluma is next, then Sacramento, followed by a pair in Berkeley, June 29-30. After that it’s off to Red Rocks on July 8 where the band is set to recreate the epic July 8, 1978 performance on its 40th birthday.

2018’s rendition of WinterWonderGrass lived up to its designation in every sense of the word this past weekend, as bluegrass fans from around the country gathered in majestic Steamboat Springs, Colorado to dance, drink and smiled the night away beneath the magnificent Park Range. The weekend more than lived up to expectation and hype, with incredible bluebird days and epic snow-covered nights, providing world-class skiing throughout the weekend and top-notch bluegrass to cap the night activities.

Dark Star Orchestra came “high-stepping” into Eugene (Ore.) last Monday night and fulfilled their bold promise to “continue the Grateful Dead concert experience” which is no easy feat. A substantial, multi-generational crowd of familiar faces gathered to glow wild and celebrate the reawakening.

Ever dynamic, John has long since moved from prodigy to mentor. Master of the improvisational moment, one never knows what might arise when John takes the stage, and that alone is reason enough to set foot on the hill. Mixing and matching bands like notes on his guitar, John is joined by Further's Jay Lane on drums, the ever versatile, Benjie Porecki on keys, and frequent, Terrapin Flyer, Wavy Dave Burlingame on bass, (maybe a banjo, maybe not) setting the conditions for a unique, wonder-filled, mind-enriching musical experience.

River Edge Park in Aurora, IL hosted a beautiful evening of Dark Star Orchestra on 6/24 ‘17.  While Chicagoland eagerly awaits the upcoming Dead & Co shows at Wrigley Field next weekend, a metro train ride out to the burbs provided 1500 guests a way to chill out by the mighty Fox River.  It was a grateful evening of sentimental tunes played out with perfect 70-degree weather.
