Dark Star Orchestra
The time is almost here! Join the fun the weekend of July 13th at The Greek Theatre in Berkeley to celebrate Rex Foundation's 40 years of community, connection, and grant-making. We have an incredible lineup featuring Dark Star Orchestra and Melvin Seals and JGB, perfect for commemorating this milestone with the music that has brought us together for decades.
Today, ALP releases Grateful: The Music Plays the Band, a seventeen-track collection of some of the finest Grateful Dead songs performed by key members of the band’s greater musical community including Oteil Burbridge (Dead & Company), Dark Star Orchestra and more.
Pushing the boundaries and challenging the status quo of music merchandise as we know it, Cymbals For Change has entered the ring (no pun intended). A mission-driven artist merchandise company, Cymbals For Change’s objective is simple: to (physically) bridge the gap between fan and artist by way of jewelry, all while donating to a charity, cause, or organization of the drummer or band’s choice.

The Grateful Dead performed at more benefits than they can count, to the point where they (amazingly!) got organized and created the Rex Foundation 40 years ago in 1984. Each year thereafter they would play shows for Rex, rendering unto the common good – small nonprofits that benefited society in the realms of the environment, arts, Native American issues, and education. This year they will celebrate grants that now total over ten million dollars given to over 1,400 grantees, a proud benchmark.
