Stepping into the historic Gothic Theatre, you couldn't help but absorb some of the effervescent energy of your fellow concertgoers even before the music started. The crowd, a healthy mixture of deadheads, Biscuits fans, and other various thrill-seeking music lovers, wore one big collective smile from the start of Tom Hamilton's American Babies set all the way through Electron's electrifying “Shakedown Street” encore. It is one of the most anticipated musical runs in Colorado. It has kicked off the summer concert series in the state with the hottest music scene for the last several years. It is Bisco Inferno, and once again the Disco Biscuits brought their loyal fans, friends, and family to the Ogden Theater and Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the most beautiful venue in America, to celebrate music and summer.

The Magic Beans played all three nights, filling State Bridge with their mixed-genre, upbeat space funk.
This was the first night of a series of hyped up, Grateful Dead infused, powerful shows that lasted almost a week. There were three shows at the Ogden Theatre, one Bisco Inferno extravaganza featuring Break Science and Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann on drums, and a Billy & the Kids show at the Ogden featuring Bill Kreutzmann, Aron Magner (Disco Biscuits), Tom Hamilton (American Babies, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead), and Reed Mathis (Tea Leaf Green).

My last three reviews (Yonder Mountain String Band, STS9, Electron) have detailed surprise replacements/additions who have extremely floored die-hard audiences of the original lineups.
This past Friday, Philadelphia’s kings of trance-fusion The Disco Biscuits made their triumphant return to the Windy City, delivering a two-night holiday run at Concord Music Hall that marked some of their most well-rounded, creative shows seen in quite some time.
