This past Friday, Philadelphia’s kings of trance-fusion The Disco Biscuits made their triumphant return to the Windy City, delivering a two-night holiday run at Concord Music Hall that marked some of their most well-rounded, creative shows seen in quite some time.

As we feel the weather changing around us, and we realize that Thanksgiving is in the air, we also must celebrate a few other traditions, like revisiting the Last Waltz, or listening to Arlo Guthrie’s “Alice’s Restaurant” on Thanksgiving Day. In Colorado, we now have another tradition around this time of year, invented by the minds of J2G Productions. In the spirit of the Last Waltz, we have our own all-star jam called the Dance Party Time Machine. This machine, escorts the audience through a timeless tale of dance music through a sixty year period.
After the ambitious idea of working with a new promoter and having a three day outdoor run at Denver’s Sculpture Park, then Ruby Hill Park did not work out, because of permit issues for the new venues, the Disco Biscuits settled for a tried and true venue, the Ogden Theater, with their usual promoter who moved shows around to accommodate the laborious situation. Colorado is like a second home to these city boys from Philadelphia, so when they come to town, it is a weekend full of friends, parties, dancing, and prodigious music.

There is no doubt in Colorado about how much the members of the Disco Biscuits love to come to Boulder. In fact, they have vehemently expressed their love for the area at every show for the last several years. You guys should all move here already. It’s okay, we all do it. None the less, every time they are here it is a gigantic treat for all of us involved. Friends see friends and dance the night away. It is a true Boulder party.
After hearing about how much fun J2G’s previous super jam shows (The Dance Party Time Machine) turned out without being there, I was not going to miss this one. Even with Zappa Plays Zappa playing across town, I chose to take my ladies to sushi and then to the Love Shack.
