Over 50,000 audiophiles packed into San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park for Outside Lands Festival to sample a delectable smorgasbord of rock immortals, indie stalwarts, and rookie sensations. Directions? No need, just follow that sweet, pungent aroma!
Until I arrived at this year’s Gathering of The Vibes Festival in Bridgeport, CT, I didn’t know I was looking for something. Until I left, I didn’t realize that I had found it. The following is a recounting of that journey. Along the way masters in the field of musical entertainment will appear. All were influential, some more than others. But as you read this recounting of GOTV 2010, remember that this is one man’s quest.

Furthur played this past weekend at MCU Park in Brooklyn New York, home to the Brooklyn Cyclones and just adjacent to one of the most famous amusement parks in the world, Coney Island. Growing up 10 minutes from NYC I felt almost embarrassed to admit I have never been to Coney Island before.

Gathering of the Vibes, the largest and most-respected Music, Arts and Camping Festival in the Northeast, is thrilled to return to Seaside Park, on the shores of Long Island Sound in Bridgeport, CT, July 29 through August 1.
Greensky Bluegrass, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Rubblebucket, and The Brew are the next round of artists added to the 14th annual All Good Festival held July 8 – 11 at Marvin’s Mountaintop in Masontown, WV. These groups will perform the Grassroots Stage, which hosts music in the campgrounds before the main concert area opens on Friday and Saturday of the festival.
The 14th annual All Good Festival announced on 4/20 the addition of two additional artists to the already packed lineup as well as the groups performing late-night at the event. The festival introduces the debut of ‘Moonshine Breakfast’ with Keller Williams & The Keels, offering the classic mountaintop breakfast of moonshine and bluegrass taking place one morning of the event.
It was another jam-packed night outside the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. You would have thought you were seeing Furthur on New Year’s Eve 2009 all over again. It was just about impossible to get into line outside the arena as there were so many people walking up and down the cordons with their pointer fingers in the air hoping for some miracle ticket to gain entry into DeadHeads kingdom; a Furthur show.
