The Garcia Project will do an eight-night run on the west coast in March 2018, focusing on the Jerry Garcia Band’s 1976-1978 set lists and performances. As a special treat, the first two shows on the tour will feature Maria Muldaur on vocals! I've been a fan of the Travelin' McCourys for nearly a decade.

From the first time I saw them live at Wakarusa in Ozark Arkansas in 2012, to my most recent show at the City Winery in Boston this past November 2018, I've tried to catch them live whenever possible.

This week, members of The Terrapin Family Band are scheduled to perform two back to back nights in New York. On Thursday February 7, TFB members Grahame Lesh, Ross James, Jason Crosby, and Alex Koford will take to NYC’s Brooklyn Bowl to host a tribute to the late songwriter and poet John Perry Barlow. For that show, they will be joined by musicians Jerry and Aishlin Harrison, Elliott Peck, Brian Stollery, and others.

Sad to learn about the passing of Gloria Y Jones, longtime backup vocalist for the old Jerry Garcia Band and Melvin Seals' modern-day JGB.

The Grateful Dead – New Riders of the Purple Sage – Marshall Tucker Band concert on September 3, 1977, is a special moment in the Dead’s legendary career. The largest concert in New Jersey history, it drew well over 100,000 fans to hear the Dead in spectacular form (and after a three-month break necessitated by Mickey Hart’s car accident and broken shoulder). Not just the Dead: as Mike Falzarano toured with the New Riders a few years later, most shows would include someone saying that they’d seen the Riders at Englishtown.

Electric On The Eel, the long-awaited six-CD box set featuring the Jerry Garcia Band, is set for release on March 15th via Round Records. Recorded at the semi-secluded French’s Camp on the Eel River in Piercy, CA, Electric On The Eel includes three full electric sets performed in 1987, 1989 and 1991.

Dead & Company and Playing in the Sand promoter CID Entertainment donated $75,000 to various local charities in Mexico.

We are more than pleased to kick off this year's Dave's Picks series with the much requested and quite spirited complete performance from Swing Auditorium, San Bernardino, CA 2/26/77. The Swing ’77 show was a unique beast, unlike any others from this era: as the band’s first concert of the year, it bridged the gap between the new and re-emerging sound of the returning 1976 Grateful Dead and the precision excellence of the spring ’77 Dead.
