Hoot and holla! Flannel Jam, Levitate’s Fall music festival, returns for its third year this Columbus Day weekend at a New England town near you!

The stardust has settled down so let’s recap the first-ever Sacred Rose Festival. Opening up a new bracket for Chicago by seasoned festival producers, Sacred Rose certainly had some highs and some lows but one thing is for sure Sacred Rose was one for the ages and one we hope will return.

The inaugural Sacred Rose Fest is less than 2 weeks away. For the first time ever there will be a weekend full of music as diverse as the Grateful Dead in its current form. Phil Lesh playing with Nels Cline and Jeff Tweedy as well as Karl Denson, Stu Allen, Grahame Lesh, Jeff Chimenti, and Elliott Peck all in one headlining slot!?! Khruangbin, JRAD, Umphrey’s McGee, Disco Biscuits, Lotus, Elliott Peck’s Midnight North, Holly Bowling, and the Gone Gone Beyond are kicking it all off?!? The list is exciting and inviting.

Molly Tuttle, already a four-time International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Award–winner, is nominated in five categories for the 2022 IBMAs: Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year (Crooked Tree), Female Vocalist of the Year, Guitar Player of the Year and Instrumental Group of the Year (Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway). The ceremony will be held Thursday, September 29 at Raleigh’s Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.

Growing up, 14-time Grammy Award-winning guitarist and singer Dan Tyminski wasn’t really a six-string picker, favoring mandolin or banjo when he joined the jam—until he heard Tony Rice, that is. Hearing Rice kick-off “Ten Degrees and Getting Colder” with J.D. Crowe and the New South for the first time, Tyminski was overtaken by the sound, forever changing his trajectory as a musician. Like the rest of the tight-knit bluegrass world, Tyminski was devastated by the loss of his hero in late 2020.

In celebration of Father’s Day, Molly Tuttle recorded a new performance video of her song, “Grass Valley,” featuring her father, Jack Tuttle, a music teacher and multi-instrumentalist, on mandolin and vocals. Watch/share the video, out today, HERE.

It’s a cosmic song inspired by his longterm interest in Tibetan music and culture and his friendship with the Tibetan singer Yungchen Lhamo. “This song appeared from infinite space,” Peter explained in the Wide Open Country premiere.
