Rising Appalachia

This Labor day the Surf Hotel will host internationally acclaimed folk musicians Rising Appalachia to The LAWN. Rising Appalachia performed in the Ivy Ballroom to a nearly sold-out crowd in 2019, however, this will be the band's debut performance on The LAWN. The holiday concert will include two shows with the supporting band Birds of Play opening.

Sisters Leah Song and Chloe Smith, better known as Rising Appalachia, are no strangers to reimagining music on their terms, in their voices, but their latest release—a haunting cover of James Blake’s “I Need A Forest Fire” from his 2016 LP, The Colour In Anything—may be one of the most creatively executed reworkings in recent memory.

As world travelers for nearly two decades, Rising Appalachia have merged multiple global music influences with their own southern roots to create the inviting new folk album, Leylines. Remarkably the band has built its legion of listeners independently -- a self-made success story that has led to major festival appearances and sold-out shows at venues across the country.

An animated, serene warmth swept through the Red Rocks Amphitheatre audience night one for highly-anticipated—and two year delayed—Rising Appalachia, Trevor Hall, Citizen Cope, and Gone Gone Beyond this past Thursday, April 28th.

World travelers and folk sister-duo Leah and Chloe Smith of Rising Appalachia are returning to Colorado for a sold out show at Red Rocks with Trevor Hall and Citizen Cope on April 28.
