As they gear up to return to the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre next month, Denver-based funk and soul ensemble The Motet have released an extended dance mix of their single "Supernova" as a special gift for their fans.

Denver-based funk and soul ensemble The Motet have partnered with The Clinic, a local Colorado marijuana dispensary, to release the band's first strain called StarMatter 303. This special, hand-picked collaboration brings forth the new StarMatter 303 Live Resin HTE pod with lineage of both 303 OG and Stardawg Guava strains. The pod will launch at all locations of The Clinic starting April 1st with the official celebratory Launch Pad Party set for Saturday, April 20th at 10 Mile Music Hall in Frisco, CO.

The Denver-based funk and soul ensemble are releasing their ninth studio album, Death Or Devotion, on January 25th via the band’s own label.The nine-track album is a killer collection of feel good grooves. The album’s first release, “Whacha Gonna Bring,” was recently used for HeadCount’s Get Out The Vote Campaign for the mid-term elections.

This past Saturday, the Williamsburg area in downtown New York City returned with one of its most anticipated musical events of the year, Brooklyn Comes Alive. Across three music venues, The Brooklyn Bowl, Rough Trade, and Music Hall of Williamsburg, over fifty musicians jammed, sang, and tributed together in fifteen sets of unique, supergroup type fashion.

The String Cheese Incident

THE BIG WEEKEND will take place over three nights across five music venues in Chicago from Oct 4 – 6. Following the model of a city takeover, the inaugural festival will feature performances from Umphrey's McGee, Lettuce, Emancipator Ensemble, Leftover Salmon, Papadosio and more. The temperature was perfect, and there was an early start to the night with the leader in British funk, The New Mastersounds. The Wales Ambassador, Eddie Roberts and his boys took the stage and wasted no time at all. Their flavor of funk is a unique, intricate, classy guitar-heavy instrumental sorcery. On this night, they even added a horn section to join them. As a side note, once at an ARISE Music Festival press conference that I was leading, I unexpectedly asked Roberts why he thinks that the tiny area of Great Britain produces so much brilliance in music, art, literature, etc. It was an idea that always baffled my mind how an area the size of Kansas can make so much beautiful art. His answer was brilliant. He responded after a pause with, “Misery.” Everyone in the room got a laugh, and one of my life long-burning questions was revealed. When their set came to an end after only 45 minutes, Roberts thanked the crowd and said that it seemed short, but that was because they are so used to often playing for 3 hours plus.
