The Motet
The Motet will be hosting their official CD Release Party at The Fillmore Auditorium on January 25, 2014. Celebrating their first album in four years, they have planned an exciting night of funk and psychedelic improvisation. To embellish their line-up they are bringing in some incredible musicians to perform, including Jason Hann (SCI & EOTO) on percussion.
The Motet has been a leader of groove music especially in Colorado for several years now. They have always had an all-star musician at each position of their band. It is just a matter of time before they explode into a national powerhouse. The Motet “family” contains some of my most favorite friends, and anyone who knows anything about music would agree that a Motet show is a dance party that you never leave disappointed or somber from.
Just a week ago, Carlos Burle captured the world record for largest wave surfed. Off the coast of Nazaré, Portugal, the Brazilian dropped into the face of an estimated 100-foot monster and, roughly 20 seconds later, entered the record books with the ride of his life. I am overwhelmed with joy when I listen to a band hit the groove so hard during a jam, it seems like the musicians are riding their own 100-foot wave. Picture Phish’s Ghost from Prague ‘98 or SCI’s Little Hands from Philly ’00.

2012 brings a new sound to a familiar face in the national music community. With an astonishingly talented cast of musicians, The Motet has refined their sound and their vision into a dynamic and expressive improvisational force.
We’re about an hour away from kicking off the music here on the second day of the tenth annual Wakarusa Music Festival at Mulberry Mountain in Ozark, Ark.After a rough first day of shows getting rained out and mud EVERYWHERE, I have high hopes that things will start to dry out at least by the time we leave Monday. Right now it’s pretty overcast, but I haven’t seen any rain yet.
In all death there is rebirth, and following Joe Cahill’s (long time and beloved Fox Theater, Boulder Theater, and Leftover Salmon lighting designer) tragic death just a few short weeks ago I witnessed a community re-born, bound together after calamity.
When you bring a together a cast of musicians steeped in different backgrounds for the sole purpose of creating on-stage spontaneity, you have an improvisational outfit. The Everyone Orchestra, conducted by ringleader Matt Butler, is exactly that. The difference between your typical jam band and an improvisational outfit is that the latter shows up to the show with no songbook.
The Everyone Orchestra is thrilled to announce a return to Colorado, May 18th through May 21st, 2013 in Fort Collins, Gunnison and Denver, CO.
