Never miss a Sunday show. These words of wisdom are shared amongst jam band fans. Last night, the proverb lived up to its name as Joe Russo’s Almost Dead closed out a three-night run at the Westville Music Bowl in New Haven, CT on Memorial Day Weekend. There was nothing dry or warm about the conditions at this former outdoor tennis stadium, which only added fuel to the fire.
Joe Russo’s Almost Dead took the stage in New Haven, Connecticut on May 29th, 2021 for the second night of a sold out run at the brand-new Westville Music Bowl, and left fans feeling that euphoric feeling they had forgotten in the fifteen months since their last live show because of the Covid pandemic. This was all despite a furious wind, unseasonably cool temperatures and rain on Memorial Day weekend.
Grateful Mahalo was a birthday party celebrated on the island of Kaua`i and all over the world for our favorite birthday boy, Bill Kreutzmann, drummer of the Grateful Dead, born May 7, 1946 in Palo Alto, California. Bill was told he was a teenager that he had no rhythm, but began playing drums in his early teens anyway.

Premier jamgrass group Greensky Bluegrass just finished their 2020 winter tour this past weekend, closing out with a packed show at The Tabernacle in Atlanta, Georgia. Onboard with them were hotshot psychedelic rockers Ghost Light, who had joined Greensky as the opening act for the entire Winter run. Grateful Web caught the two together during their northeast run, at Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania.
Sexy jam rockers Ghost Light lit up the stage at the iconic Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg, NY with their unique blend of acid and funk mixed with indie jam rock. The band is led by jam scene veteran and guitarist Tom Hamilton (Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Brother’s Past, American Babies), as well as guitarist Raina Mullen (American Babies).
Tom Hamilton keeps very busy between Ghost Light, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, American Babies, Electron, and the rare but most coveted Billy & The Kids appearance.
All four band members: Marc Brownstein & Aron Magner (Disco Biscuits), Tom Hamilton (Joe Russo's Almost Dead), and Mike Greenfield (Lotus), all have busy schedules, but when they come together as one force, “Electron”, they are on point. With many years under their belt in the “jam world”, they feed off of their energy and their little non-verbal to create a sound of their own. Whether it be Magner tickling the ivories, or Hamilton shredding it on guitar, the foursome is always firing on all cylinders.
