Moe's BBQ and the creators of Hangtown Music Festival are excited to unveil the initial lineup for the debut Backcountry Music Festival, a three-day celebration at the idyllic Corley Ranch in northwest Nevada's rolling hills. Taking place June 2-4, the weekend will showcase performances from a diverse range of artists and bands, including both established performers and acclaimed figures in modern Country Music. Co-produced by the renowned Tahoe restaurant chain Moe's Barbeque, the weekend will also feature a spectacular BBQ exhibition, showcasing dishes from the region's top pitmasters.
The festival, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the eastern Sierras, will also highlight the best of southwestern American culture, with Western Exhibitions, rodeo, and more. The jam-packed music schedule will feature sets from over twenty performers on two stages. Leading the initial lineup announcement is the Grammy-nominated genre-defying trio Midland, known for their high-energy live shows and exceptional live band.
Singer/songwriter Ashley McBryde, who recently closed out a landmark 2022 with an induction to the Grand Ole Opry and two 2023 Grammy Award nominations, will also bring her chart-topping bluegrass, rock, and country fusion to the stage. Backcountry will also mark the first 2023 festival appearance for the enigmatic Texas baritone Paul Cauthen following his momentous spring run with prolific DJ, producer, and 3x Grammy Award Winner, Diplo. Cauthen will deliver his unique blend of hard-hitting and introspective Americana for a highly-anticipated set.
The lineup also includes an impressive roster of touring veterans and regional favorites, including Oklahoma legends Jason Boland & The Stragglers, Nevada natives Hellbound Glory, and North Lake Tahoe's Dead Winter Carpenters. Singer and multi-instrumentalist Hailey Whitters is among the list of rising Country stars, which also includes intrepid songwriter Vincent Neil Emerson, Nevada native Lauren Reno, auditory storyteller Tanner Usrey, and fast-rising artist Jesse Daniel. Additional artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
The team behind Backcountry Music Festival is dedicated to showcasing Carson County's rich history, thriving habitat, and unparalleled natural beauty during the event, offering numerous opportunities for attendees of all ages to enjoy. Corley Ranch, located just outside of Genoa, historic Nevada Territory's first settlement, is a fully operational cattle ranch and farm. Locally regarded as the "oldest ranch in the valley," the festival grounds are lined with 150+ year-old Cottonwood Trees and offer a sweeping view of the Eastern Sierra Nevada.
Festival partner Moe's Original Bar B Que, a Lake Tahoe favorite, will lead an ambitious culinary exhibition, featuring a robust BBQ-centric selection of provisions from leading local restaurateurs alongside options for all dietary needs, including plant-based options. Multiple bar areas will serve dozens of locally sourced craft beer, wine, and cocktails.
The festival organizers have made comfort and accessibility a top priority for all patrons, with an expansive, secure designated camping area located immediately next to the festival grounds. Car and RV camping, and VIP packages will be available. Ticket sales commence on Friday, February 3rd.
